Battle of the Books 2025 - 2026

Battle of the Books runs from September to January in our school. Students have the opportunity to read and study one set of 16 books out of a set of 64 books selected by a committee of librarians, teachers, and library administrators. Our students competed in the district competition on January 30, 2025 and they were amazing.  You can watch them by clicking on the video below!

Meet the Library Staff

Nicole White, Librarian

Einstein said, “When in doubt, go to the library.”

When you get to the library at Gardiner, you will meet me. My name is Nicole White and I have been an educator since 2004.  My goal in the library is to help each student develop a love of reading. Creating “Wild Readers” who use every spare minute to jump into their book to learn or find out what happens next. My responsibilities include keeping the collection up-to-date, organizing the books and information, helping scholars find information they need or are interested in, and teaching students’ digital citizenship as well as creating lessons in the library that introduce students to research and the love of reading.

Guide to Book Care

  • Keep your books in a safe place.
  • Return your books on time.
  • Do not eat or drink while reading library books.
  • Wash and dry your hands before reading library books.
  • Keep books away from pets and little ones. They do not know how to take care of books!
  • Never draw or write in a library book!
  • Always use a bookmark!
  • If the library book has been damaged, bring it to your librarian. They will repair it if they can. DO NOT REPAIR THE BOOK YOURSELF! Your librarian has the right tools and training to fix books.
  • If you lose your book or it is damaged while in your care, you will need to pay to replace it. Talk to your librarian.
